Tag, iron-on patches, 3" dia., 2018.
The following work juxtaposes the Texas Lone Star from the American South-West and the Islamic moon and star while incorporating a double Letter "A" representing the word Arab-American. The work references the patch from the Jewish Holocaust, as well as the Scarlet Letter from Nathaniel Hawthorne's novel.
The work addresses racism towards the Arab-American population in the United States as well as the ongoing civilian deaths across the Middle East in Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Afghanistan, Gaza, etc.
The patches are created from an original digital design, which are then machine manufactured.
